In Dothan, Alabama there is a
museum called Carver Museum. In this museum I learned that George Washington
Carver invented over 300 peanut products. Did you know he actually didn't
invent peanut butter? Marcellus Gilmore Edson invented it. George Washington
Carver was most known for developing hundreds of products using peanuts, sweet
potatoes, and soybeans.
On our second stop for
the third day was the Carver Museum. This stop is my third favorite stop on the
trip so far. At this stop we learned about George Washington Carver and other African
Americans. At this museum they celebrate diversity but focus on African
Americans. They also dig deeper into the meaning of the art, meaning they are
learning more than what the picture says. While we were here, we learned so
many new things. At the end of the tour, we discussed African American history
using a timeline activity and how it has changed society and the world.
